Summer Buzz was composed for the 2022 Indiana Clarinet Experience (ICE), hosted on the campus of Purdue University, Fort Wayne.


Summer Buzz is about a bumble bee that, perhaps a bit intoxicated on nectar and pollen, bumbles around a flower garden. It's a demented waltz with Straussian harmonies, but the B section has notes of Sondheim. Pretty tough to read because of chromatic notes and lots of ties/hemiolas, but a high school group and up should have no problem mastering it.
